Is Hoodia Diet Pills Effective in Losing Weight?

Some people still doubt the effectiveness of this plant in this aspect, but the ones who use it found outstanding results. Many people ask how Hoodia diet pills help reduce people’s weight.

People nowadays notice the popularity of the Hoodia Diet Pills, and it’s helping many in South Africa and native people use this to suppress their appetite. It is popular because it has been used and proven effective for thousands of years now. Ailments can be cured with this plant, aside from it, can help prevent the feeling of hunger. The benefits of this have been known in that place even before the modern world knew about it.

This plant can prevent you from suffering too much hunger, thus helping you take in fewer calories and lose weight in the process. A healthy diet and exercise should be partnered by the intake of the Hoodia Gordonii diet pills, and remember that you should make a move to drink more glasses of water.

You will not feel so hungry when you try Hoodia diet pills. So you have to be sure that the foods you are eating are completely nutritious to give your body much energy throughout the day. It is imperative to consider the foods you eat even if you want to lose weight. Because your diet should not negatively affect your body, your diet and body should be both balanced.

With this method, you will not overeat even if you are bored because you would feel that you do not need much food. You will quickly lose weight because of this after becoming disciplined in eating what you have to. It is a very healthy lifestyle for people and is, thus, recommended by some.

How to Lose Weight Without the Fancy Diets

Weight loss is a challenging endeavour for most people these days. Busy lifestyles combined with constant bombardment by television ads for tantalizing cheeseburgers and pizzas relentlessly stimulate our taste buds and sensibilities. Unfortunately, many of these foods are high in fat and calories and promote unhealthy living at its worst. And yet, we unwittingly error on the side of stuffing calorie after calorie into our mouths and pushing ourselves further down the fast track of the not so healthy.

So what should be done about the tantalizing commercials and calorie-rich foods?

That is not much we can do for the commercials. But we can avoid calorie-rich foods. The choice has to be made within ourselves, a conscious effort that begins with counting calories.

How do I lose weight?

It all boils down to supply and demand. When supply exceeds demand, the excess has to be stored somewhere, and that somewhere is generally on our bellies, hips, thighs, and butts. So how many calories should I consume? In general, between 1200 and 2000 calories a day is normal for the average person to maintain weight. A good rule of thumb is about ten times your body weight. So if you weigh 170 pounds, then about 1700 calories to maintain.

To lose weight, you will need to eat fewer calories than necessary to maintain. About 3500 calories represent one pound. So if we can create a 3500-calorie deficit, we should be able to lose one pound. Spread this out over a week or seven days, and you see that to lose a pound a week, you need to eat 500 fewer calories a day. So for the above example, you would have 1700 – 500 = 1200 calories a day for a weight loss of one pound per week.

Do I have to exercise if I’m eating less?

The short answer is no. However, exercise generates multiple benefits to the human body. Mainly it boosts the metabolism making it easier to burn up those fat stores from last winter. Secondly, adding exercise, both aerobic and weight-bearing, is an excellent way to reshape, re-tone, and in general, strengthen your body. Here, a good rule of thumb is about twenty minutes a day, three times a week for most individuals.

So what if I don’t want to count calories?

Count them! At least count calories for a short while, or until you meet your weight loss goal. You will discover an awareness of how much food is enough and an inert ability to select more appropriate foods. Once that awareness kicks in, you will find yourself unconsciously aware of what you’re eating and how many calories you have consumed.

What tips can be offered for losing weight?

Avoid fast foods. If you want to eat out, select a sit-down restaurant and try ordering an item from the menu that you might fix for yourself at home. Eat at home as much as possible and avoid preprocessed and frozen foods. Learn to cook and take the time to do it! Count calories and set weight loss goals. And finally, don’t be afraid of the gym, make it your friend and enjoy having a robust and healthy body.

Is Cell Phone Radiation Harmful?

First, you need to know what SAR is. Specific absorption rate (SAR) is a measure of the rate at which energy is absorbed by the human body when exposed to a radio frequency (RF) electromagnetic field. The Federal Communications Commission requires that phones sold have a SAR level at or below 1.6 watts per kilogram taken over the volume containing a mass of 1 gram of tissue that is absorbing the most signal.

According to a recent CNET video review about mobile phone SAR, the following five cell phone models have the highest SAR levels: Huawei Vitria (SAR 1.49), Alcatel One Touch Evolve (SAR 1.49), Motorola Moto E (SAR 1.5), Motorola Droid Ultra (SAR 1.54), and Motorola Droid Maxx (SAR 1.54). If you are using those cell phone models, should you be worried?

Another CNET article suggests that the SAR is an old test that the minimum 1.6 requirement was set in 1996 and hasn’t been changed since. While our technology advances continually and new cell phones are much more powerful than those in the past, maybe it is time for the government to revise the standard. Also, the dummy used for testing is more than 6 feet tall and weighed 220 pounds, that is a lot different from children, who are also cell phone users in general.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the World Health Organization (WHO) have several documents discussing about cell phone radiation, SAR, and other related topics. Here are some of the key points.

Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) For Cell Phones: What It Means For You

Each cell phone is tested while operating at its highest power level in all the frequency bands in which it operates, and in various specific positions against the dummy head and body. However, only the highest SAR values for each frequency band are included in the final authorization to demonstrate compliance with the FCC’s RF guidelines.

The most effective means to reduce exposure are to hold the cell phone away from the head or body and to use a speakerphone or hands-free accessory. These measures will generally have much more impact on RF energy absorption than the small difference in SAR between individual cell phones, which, in any event, is an unreliable comparison of RF exposure to consumers, given the variables of individual use.

Reducing Exposure: Hands-free Kits and Other Accessories

If there is a risk from being exposed to radiofrequency energy (RF) from cell phones – and at this point we do not know that there is–it is probably very small. But if you are concerned about avoiding even potential risks, you can take a few simple steps to minimize your RF exposure. 1. Reduce the amount of time spent using your cell phone. 2. Use speaker mode or a headset to place more distance between your head and the cell phone.

Do cell phones pose a health hazard?

The low levels of RF cell phones emit while in use are in the microwave frequency range. They also emit RF at substantially reduced time intervals when in the stand-by mode. Whereas high levels of RF can produce health effects (by heating tissue), exposure to low level RF that does not produce heating effects causes no known adverse health effects.

The energy levels associated with radiofrequency energy, including both radio waves and microwaves, are not great enough to cause the ionization of atoms and molecules. Therefore, RF energy is a type of non-ionizing radiation. Other types of non-ionizing radiation include visible light, infrared radiation (heat) and other forms of electromagnetic radiation with relatively low frequencies.

No Evidence Linking Cell Phone Use to Risk of Brain Tumors

Although research is ongoing, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says that available scientific evidence—including World Health Organization (WHO) findings4 released May 17, 2010—shows no increased health risk due to radiofrequency (RF) energy, a form of electromagnetic radiation that is emitted by cell phones.

Electromagnetic fields and public health: mobile phones

A number of studies have investigated the effects of radiofrequency fields on brain electrical activity, cognitive function, sleep, heart rate and blood pressure in volunteers. To date, research does not suggest any consistent evidence of adverse health effects from exposure to radiofrequency fields at levels below those that cause tissue heating.

What are the health risks associated with mobile phones and their base stations?

Based on mixed epidemiological evidence on humans regarding an association between exposure to RF radiation from wireless phones and head cancers (glioma and acoustic neuroma), RF fields have been classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer as possibly carcinogenic to humans (Group 2B). Studies to date provide no indication that environmental exposure to RF fields, such as from base stations, increases the risk of cancer or any other disease.

What about cell phone manufacturers? Do they provide any usage suggestions? Usually there are important fine prints buried in user manuals.

Google Nexus 5: “To comply with FCC/IC Rf exposure requirements a minimum separation distance of 0.49 inches (1cm) must be maintained between your body and the back of the phone.”

Samsung Galaxy S5: “For body-worn operation, this phone has been tested and meets FCC RF exposure guidelines when used with an accessory that contains no metal parts and that positions the mobile device a minimum of 1.0cm from the body.”

iPhone 5S: “To reduce exposure to RF energy, use a hands-free option, such as the built-in speakerphone, the supplied headphones, or other similar accessories. Carry iPhone at least 5mm away from your body to ensure exposure levels remain at or below the as-tested levels.”

To sum up, if you are really worried about cell phone radiation, take FDA suggestion: 1. Reduce the amount of time spent using your cell phone. 2. Use speaker mode or a headset to place more distance between your head and the cell phone.

Or, you can use a Cell Spacer. The Cell Spacer was designed to put some distance between you and your cell phone. Adequate space between the phone and the head helps you to minimize the risks of harmful RF radiation.

5 Cancer Fighting Superfoods

If you ever read the list of ineffective cancer treatments, you will be amazed to find that many so-called cancer-fighting foods are on that list. That include aloe, cayenne pepper, ginger, ginseng, grapes, red wine, mushroom, mangosteen, noni juice, saw palmetto, soursop, walnuts, and many others. According to the American Cancer Society, US Federal Trade Commission and other institutions, many of these foods do not have adequate evidence to support their claims to prevent or treat cancer. The following 5 seem to work better, well, they are not on that ineffective food list.

Broccoli

Broccoli is a cruciferous vegetable that belongs to the cabbage family, which also consists of cauliflower, bok choy, kale, mustard greens, radishes, turnips, watercress, and brussels sprouts.

Broccoli contains sulforaphane, an anticarcinogen which inhibits the development of cancer. According to a research from the University of Illinois, the best way to prepare broccoli is to steam if lightly for 3 to 4 minutes. In that way, a sulfur-grabbing protein would be eliminated, but the cancer-fighting component sulforaphane would be remained unchanged. While rich in vitamin C and dietary fiber, broccoli also contains other anti-cancer properties such as diindolylmethane and selenium, and a good source of indole-3-carbinol, which can boost DNA repair and happen to block the growth of cancer cells.

Diets high in cruciferous vegetables appear to be linked with a lower risk of certain types of cancer such as colon and bladder cancers.

Garlic

The close relatives of garlic include onion, shallot, leek, and chive.

Several compounds in garlic are found to have antibiotic, antioxidant, antimicrobial, antitumour effects, but one type in particular, the allixin and its analogs are said to play a major role in cancer prevention.. These compounds reportedly help our body get rid of cancer-causing components and let cancer cells die off normally.

Evidence from available studies nevertheless suggests a preventive effect of garlic consumption in stomach, prostate, mouth and throat, kidney, and colorectal cancers.

Seaweed

Seaweed is a type of algae that grows in or near the sea. Other common names include sea vegetable, red, brown and green algae, nori, kombu, wakami, zicai, and gim.

Seaweed and other sea vegetables contain beta-carotene, protein, fiber, chlorophyll, as well as chlorophylones, an important fatty acids that may help in the fight against breast cancer. Many sea vegetables also have a high concentration of calcium, iodine, iron, magnesium, and potassium.

Studies suggest that people who eat seaweed and other sea vegetables regularly tend to show that they have less breast cancer than those whose diet relies more on meat.

Soybean

Soybean, a member of the pea family and a source of high-quality protein, is a species of legume native to Southeast Asia, widely grown for its edible bean which has numerous uses. Traditional food uses of soybeans include tofu, tofu skin, soy milk, roasted soybeans, soy powder.

Soybean contains isoflavones such as genistein, daidzein, and glycitein, are considered by some researchers to be useful in the role of reducing cancer risk.

Scientific research suggests that overall the moderate consumption of soy products may have a protective effect against developing breast and prostate cancer. However, soy dietary supplements should be avoided as there is no evidence they are either effective or safe at preventing or treating cancers.

Tomato

Tomatoes are the most important food source of lycopene, others such as apricots, watermelon, papaya, and pink grapefruit are also good sources of lycopene.

Studies show that cooked tomatoes are better than raw ones, heating process somehow increases the amount of lycopene your body can absorb. However, whether lycopene in tomatoes may help prevent cancer or not, remains inconclusive. Some population studies have found that a diet high in lycopene is linked with a lower risk of prostate cancer. Other studies, however, found no link between tomato products and prostate cancer. Since tomatoes also contain other nutrients like vitamins, potassium, and antioxidants, it may be that other compounds in tomatoes account for the protective effects first thought to be due to lycopene. Further studies are needed to find out if any possible anti-cancer properties do exist in tomatoes.

People who have diets rich in tomatoes, appear in some studies to have a lower risk of certain types of cancer like prostate, lung, and stomach cancers.

How much weight can you lose? Most programs suggest that if their customers stick to the diet plan, customers can expect to lose 1-2 lb per week. But of course, in reality, weight loss results may vary due to a variety of personal factors.

What should you drink on the diet? Instead of fruit juice or fizzy drinks, water, herbal / green tea are recommended. Nutrichef suggests drinking 2 litres of water a day. Drink it between meals, and it helps breaking down your food.

Is Garcinia Cambogia The Best Weight Loss Superfood?

In many online ads, garcinia cambogia is being advertised as one of the best ingredients for weight loss supplements, however, some of these ads are a bit misleading. Here are two examples.

Ad 1 displays a cucumis metuliferus, when you click the ad, you will get redirected to an offer page selling garcinia cambogia supplement.

Ad 2 displays a few mangosteens, but it is talking about garcinia cambogia. So, what exactly are cucumis metuliferus, mangosteen, and garcinia cambogia?

Cucumis metuliferus, also known as horned melon or kiwano, is an annual vine in the cucumber and melon family. Its taste and texture are similar to a cucumber. it’s rich in vitamin C, iron, magnesium, and it doesn’t seem to have much to do with weight loss.

Mangosteen is a tropical evergreen tree originated from Asia. The fruit of mangosteen is tangy, juicy, and a bit fibrous. Its nutrition is only modest with a low percentage of the US recommendations for adults. Traditionally, mangosteens have been used to treat skin infections, dysentery, and urinary tract infections. Purple mangosteens are often used in appetite suppressants.

Garcinia cambogia, or garcinia gummi-gutta is a small pumpkin-shaped tropical fruit from Asia. Both mangosteen and garcinia cambogia belong to the garcinia genus. Based on many product reviews, garcinia cambogia extract is described to be used as a fat blocker. People who use it can enjoy natural weight loss results without extreme diets or workouts. It suppresses appetite naturally and allows you to feel full throughout the day, thus preventing over-eating. However, other studies also show that garcinia cambogia are sometimes used in laxatives. So, exactly how garcinia cambogia extract works might also depend on other factors, and your result might vary.

How To Peel Chestnuts

My family loves chestnuts, so naturally I want to find an effective way to peel chestnuts. There are many methods about peeling chestnuts on the Internet, some even come with video instructions and stuff. The most unbelievable one is to simply put the chestnuts under direct sunlight, and they will crack themselves up!

Anyway, most of the chestnut peeling methods are similar. You are suggested to cut a X on the chestnuts, put them on a chestnut roasting pan or baking pan and roast them in an oven. Some suggest that before you roast it, you can boil it for a while, so you can get the pellicle comes off more easily. Well, I tried many different methods, most of them don’t fully work at 100%. Most of the time, it’s always easy to remove the chestnut shell, but not the papery pellicle, the pellicle always got stuck with the flesh of the nut, maybe the chestnuts that I bought aren’t fresh enough or something.

Recently, I tried using a microwave to do the job, and the result is quite good. Each batch of chestnuts is different, it varies somewhat based on the variety, how fresh they are, dryness, and so on. So usually I pick up a few for testing and see how things go. As usual, I cut a X on the chestnuts, put them in a bowl, pour in a few tablespoons of water, cook in microwave for one minute. Then I pour out the water, put it back into the microwave for another minute. Now I can actually remove the shell and skin pretty easily.

Here is some nutritional information about chestnuts: Fresh chestnut fruits have about 180 calories per 100 g of edible parts, which is much lower than other nuts and dried fruit. Chestnuts contain very little fat, and no gluten or cholesterol. They are the only nuts that contain vitamin C, with about 40 mg per 100 g, which is about 65 percent of the U.S. recommended daily intake.
